TRiM is a trauma-focused peer support system designed to help people who have experienced a traumatic, or potentially traumatic, event. TRiM Practitioners are non-medical personnel who have undergone specific training allowing them to understand the effects that traumatic events can have on people. TRiM training does not make them counsellors or therapists, but gives them the skills to engage compassionately and confidentially, to actively listen, and to offer practical support and assistance.
We design our courses to be bespoke to your organisational need. Different organisations operate at different levels of risk or threat when it comes to the potential for witnessing traumatic incidents. If your organisation operates in a high risk industry or location, or if your people are likely to face potentially traumatic situations day to day, you should consider TRiM. TRiM can help in a number of ways, whether you need it from a duty of care perspective, a staff psychological safety perspective, or to promote well-being and support better return to work post-trauma.
We deliver both TRiM Practitioner Training (TRiM-PT) and TRiM Manager Training (TRiM-MT).
TRiM Practitioners are trained to look for signs of distress that may otherwise be missed, to carry out TRiM assessments, to lead TRiM planning meetings, and to signpost people to further support if required. TRiM Managers have previously completed TRiM-PT. They are further trained to coordinate TRiM responses, including carrying out Tactical Incident Briefings, allocating Practitioners, managing Practitioner CDP, and delivering basic trauma awareness briefings and Practitioner refresher training in-house.
Our courses are run by qualified psychologists with many years' experience in trauma therapy, trauma informed practice supervision, and trauma risk management training. We will design your courses to fit the direct need of the organisation and of your people, and can deliver a range of add-on training to add value and skills, including our Trauma Self-Regulation module, which supports TRiM practitioners and managers to also look inwards for the signs and impacts of secondary trauma, and manage their own risk. We can deliver this in-house at your organisation, or at an away-day centre.
