MI in Groups is for any professional who would like to learn how to facilitate groups using the MI approach in order to achieve positive outcomes and engagement within change groups. The type of groups our participants often work with are weight-management, healthy eating, Diabetes & Pre-Diabetes, pain management, self-help groups and many more. Our course is for individuals who have a familiarity with Motivational Interviewing and/or group work.
The workshop will make use of a wide range of learning activities like demonstration, short lectures, real and simulated exercises, discussion groups and video observation.
Learning Outcomes of the course:
1 Develop a working knowledge of MI.
2 Understand the key issues in therapeutic groups
3 Understand group practice of MI compared to individual practice
4 Be aware of the range of MI groups design options
5 Understand the four phases of MI groups
6 Be aware of the various practice exercises used in MI group
7 Experience/observe MI groups in action
