WHAT IS COMPASSION ?
Compassion is a hot topic at the moment and at NCBC we believe it is for all the right reasons; to support others. It has been described as 'being moved by another’s suffering and wanting to help' (Lazarus, R. S. (1991) Emotion and adaptation) and by Paul Gilbert as 'the sensitivity to suffering in self and others, with a commitment to try to alleviate and prevent it.'
There are many more definitions and many components that define a truly compassionate person. Our courses aim to help with a core understanding of compassion as well as explore practical examples of how to become more compassionate in your work and life - this includes self-compassion at it's core which can sometimes be the hardest of all compassionate elements to actualise.
