ABOUT COGNITIVE BEHAVIOURAL THERAPY
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a talking therapy and has been proved to help treat a wide range of emotional and physical health conditions in adults, young people and children. CBT looks at the links between how we think about a situation and how this affects the way we behave. In turn our actions can affect how we think and feel. The therapist and client work together in changing the client’s behaviours, or their thinking patterns, or both of these. It's most commonly used to treat anxiety and depression, but can be useful for other mental and physical health problems such as anger management, phobias, pain management and OCD.

NCBC understands that learning the basic tenets of CBT and learning a few basic tools can support practitioners to support clients around some changes and also give them a flavour as to whether they would like to engage in more intensive CBT therapy for their problems. Our courses aim to provide a basic overview of the structure of the CBT theory, effective evidence-based tools and increase practitioners confidence to incorporate these into their every day practice.
We deliver the following CBT courses :
Introduction to CBT Workshop (1 or 2 days)
Integrating CBT into practice (varied options)
CBT Coaching for practitioners (varied)
We also can deliver 1:1 or group coaching and supervision from our CBT practitioners to increase proficiency and support embedding this approach effectively into every day practice.
Example Learning Outcomes for our Introduction to CBT workshop:
1 To obtain a basic understanding of the principles underpinning CBT
2 To experience basic CBT techniques personally and how these could translate into practice
3 To be introduced to up-to-date evidence and key information on using these approaches
4 To have an opportunity to practice CBT tools relevant to use within professional settings
